The Kn² Preamp VST plugin is modeled after one of those circuits that are so appropriately named after something quite different to what they’re supposed to do.

Sharing a closely related topology with the stompbox modeled by the Kn² Distortion plugin, this box quite unsurprisingly distorts guitar signals. This particular variation, however, features less sophisticatedly named components, resulting in a slightly different flavor of distortion with marginally higher headroom.

The model features two controls: Gain and Level. The Gain control adjusts the overall gain of the preamp stage, gradually introducing symmetrical clipping of the amplified signal. The Level control adjusts the output level of the distorted signal.

Conveniently, the face of this stompbox has no dials or numbers whatsoever - an important feature that allows the user to dial it all the way up to 11 and beyond.
